International College, KMITL

The International College, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, invites qualified applicants to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering program in Academic Year 2016 (starting in August 2016). This round of admission is open for all students, both Thais and foreigners, who have excellent academic records and satisfy the requirements given below.

1. Applicant qualifications

The applicant is required to meet the requirements specified in section 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 below. The applicant is advised to contact the International College if not certain whether his/her qualification is eligible.

  • 1.1 Educational background
    The applicant must satisfy one of the following requirements:
    • Graduated from a high school/secondary school in Thailand or abroad and obtained (or expected to obtain prior to the start of Academic Year 2016) a qualification equivalent to Matthayom 6
    • Graduated from a vocational program in a college in Thailand or abroad and obtained (or expected to obtain prior to the start of Academic Year 2016) a qualification equivalent to Matthayom 6 or higher.
    • Graduated or studying in Matthayom 6
    • Graduated or studying in the final year of a 12-Year or 13-Year education in an international school in Thailand or in a high school/secondary school abroad
    • Graduated or studying in the final year in a school which has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic cooperation with KMITL
    • Graduated or studying in the final year of a vocational program in a college in Thailand or abroad with a qualification equivalent to Matthayom 6 or higher and in which the main language of instruction is English
    • Obtained (or expect to obtain before the beginning of the Academic Year 2016) a qualification equivalent to Matthayom 6 as approved by the Ministry of Education of Thailand.
  • 1.2 Academic records
    The applicant should possess an excellent academic record which, at the minimum, meets the requirements specified in 1.2.1 or 1.2.2 below:
    • 1.2.1The applicant’s combined grade point average for all courses in mathematics as reported in the applicant’s latest academic transcript must be no less than 3.0 in the 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
    • 1.2.2The applicant has taken at least one of the following standardized testsand obtained a score which meets the minimum requirement specified:
      • SAT (Math section) or SAT Subject test (Math Level I or Math Level II) with a score of 600 or above
      • ACT (Math section) with a score of 24 or above
      • AP test in a subject in mathematics with a score of 4 or above
      • GCE A-Level or GCE AS-Level in a subject in mathematics with grade B or above
      • GCE O-Level or GCSE or IGCSE in a subject in mathematics with grade A or above
      • IB-Diploma with a score of at least 5 in a subject in mathematics
      • NCEA (Level 2 or Level 3) in a subject in mathematics with grade “Merit (M)” or above
      • China National Higher Education Entrance Examination (Gaokao) score of the Mathematics subject with a score of 75 (out of 150) or above
      • CU-AAT (Math section) with a score of 480 or above
      • PAT1 (mathematics) or PAT3 (engineering) with a score of 90 or above
      
  • 1.3 English language requirements
    The applicant must fulfill one of the following requirements on English language proficiency :
    • 1.3.1The applicant has obtained one of the following test scores which meets the minimum requirement specified :
      • IELTS score of at least 5.5
      • TOEFL (iBT) score of at least 61
      • TOEFL (ITP or paper-based test) score of at least 500
      • China National Higher Education Entrance Examination (Gaokao) score of the English subject with a score of 75 (out of 150) or above
      • CU-TEP score of at least 65
      • TU-GET score of at least 500
      • GAT (Part 2 - English) score of at least 100
    • 1.3.2The applicant has been studying for two years or longer in a school or a college outside Thailand in which the main language of instruction is English.

2. Numbers of acceptances

The International College expects to accept 20 students from this round of admission. The International College may accept a lower or greater number of students depending on the number of qualified applicants.

2) Interview
The interview is held at the International College, KMITL. The interview candidates who live outside Thailand may request for an interview via video conference over the Internet.

3) Announcement of the accepted applicants
The list of successful applicants will be announced on www.ic.kmitl.ac.th/se. The decision made by the admission committee is final.
29 June 2016
4) Payment of tuition fee
Every accepted applicant is required to submit an online form to confirm their intent to enroll and pay the tuition fee for Semester 1/2016 in full by bank transfer.
1 - 6 July 2016
5) Start of Semester 1/2016
1 August 2016

4. Application submission

The application can be made free-of-charge. Please follow the steps below to prepare and submit an application.

1)  Complete and submit the on-line application form at: http://www.ic.kmitl.ac.th/apply

2)  Prepare the supporting documents listed below. Please include your name and your Application ID number on each document submitted.

  • Supporting documents
    • A photocopy of the applicant's national identification card or passport

    • A photocopy of the applicant's name-change certificate (if any)

    • A latest official academic transcript

      If the applicant has already graduated, a final official transcript should be sent with the application. Otherwise, the applicant should send the latest official transcript available at the time the application is made, and if there is any subsequent update, the applicant is required to bring the most up-to-date official transcript on the day of the interview. The applicant may send a photocopy of his/her academic transcript with the application instead of an original one, in which case the applicant is required to bring an original copy of the official transcript on the day of the interview.

    • Standardized-test score reports (if required)

      A photocopy of the score report for each applicable standardized test in mathematics and/or English language should be sent with the application. However, in case a score report is not available at the time the application is made, the applicant must indicate in his/her application form which test the applicant is waiting for the result, and then send a copy of the score report to the International College once the test result becomes available. The applicant is required to bring the original score report on the day of the interview and present it to the examiners.

    • An academic portfolio (if any)

      The applicant may send his/her academic portfolio and any additional supporting document with the application. Alternatively, the applicant can bring those documents on the day of the interview and present them to the examiners.

    Please note that only the documents which are valid at the time the consideration is made will be considered.

5. Tuition fee

The tuition fee for students entering the program in Academic Year 2016 is 75,000 THB per semester. This fee does not cover the cost of optional overseas training and the cost of textbooks.
